Another Day

Posted 10-27-2006 at 10:18 PM by Super Step
We bought 5 more calves Thursday.
1600 went through the sale. Cows are cheap, bad cheap. Seems everyone is selling out because of the drought and no hay.
Yearling calves sold well. Smaller calves were very allordable.
I also bought another trailer this (Friday) evening, picking it up at 8 AM tomorrow.
It is a stock cattle trailer, 20 feet, 28 including the neck over. My other is a bumper pull stock type 4 horse slant, manufactured locally.

Things change

My neighbor sold his cattle today. He sells everything each Fall. Sells every cow, calf everything. He wants to feed nothing during the winter. He usually begins buying back bred cows come Spring. Interesting way of doing things

I wanted to take Doc and Cutter over to help round up and pen/ sort the cattle. I was a good boy and went to work instead.

I took a personal day today. I normally have my winter pastures drilled before now. Running late.
My father has insisted I sub soil his place before planting. I just ran out of time, daylight is shrinking.
But I bought 1,000 lbs of rye grass seed and also 1,000 of winter wheat.
We had a cold snap come in and the tractor I was going to broadcast the wheat with (I broadcast the wheat and drill the rye on top of that), the tractor did not like the cold. I decided to walk over to...

Long Day

Posted 10-12-2006 at 07:40 PM by Super Step
We always refinish the Gym floor during Fall Break. I began sanding the floor a little before 8:00 this morning and finished at 2:30.
Our PTO had scheduled their Fall Festival for this evening and decided at the last minute to have it in the gym rather than outside. With all the school happenings, it was decided to be a safe approach, easier to monitor.
The men were there to set up the moon walks and things and I was trying to get the mess cleaned up that sanding creates and put my floor...
