Annual Professional Meeting

Posted 11-14-2006 at 05:24 PM by Super Step
I have been to our state Physical Education convention the last three days. Since B'ham is pretty much the center of the state, it is always held there, which is a short commute for me.
I enjoy seeing people I have not seen in a while and going to the different clinics.
I hit two dance clinics today. (along with two boring lectures)
The first was funny. It was scramble square dancing. There were no squares, no permanent partners. You simply mingled and grabbed someone when a call...

Zoie

Posted 11-11-2006 at 07:15 PM by Super Step
Zoie has become so confident in herself. She is roaming free outside, a free deer. She does expect her morning bottle and is waiting to be fed first thing every morning. She comes into the house, drinks, then goes about her day.
If I am outside, she is with me. Other than that she is wandering around, checking out the world. At least she knows to come home when hungry.
She followed me on a walk today. We went over to the pine trees and checked on the rye and wheat.
Tina still chases...

Summer Grass Almost Gone

Posted 11-05-2006 at 08:57 PM by Super Step
Today I was going to take a lazy Sunday ride on Doc or Cutter over to Dad's and check on the calves. I got busy doing odds and ends, ran out of time.
We trailered the last 5 sale barn calves over there yesterday. Brought 6 back to band or dehorn, then took them back over.
We had a fairly hard freeze last week that knocked a dent in the summer grass. I do not want to have to feed hay this early. The winter grass is up, but not enough to carry them just yet. Maybe they can get some grazing...

Trailer/Bulls/Calves

Posted 10-29-2006 at 08:08 PM by Super Step
We got the lights straightened out on the trailer, except some of the upper running lights. But those will be easy to fix.

I left the trailer hooked up when I went to feed the calves at Dad's. I normally only feed them every few days to keep them coming up when I drive through the gate.
Dad thinks I need to feed them every day. We have not had a killing frost and there is still Kudzu, which is around 20% protein.
But, I decided to feed them in the trailer.
It worked...

Brought the trailer home

Posted 10-28-2006 at 10:26 PM by Super Step
I brought the trailer home this morning. I will try to get pictures. He threw in a new set of tires I can pick up Tuesday.
I need to fiddle with the wiring as the trailer has sat up for a year. But the electric brakes work fine.
He had solid mats over the cattle floor (wood with a wire overlay) because he hauled horses with it at times.
I removed the mats and pressure washed the insides. I am glad the floor is still in good condition.

I finally found time to take...
