show at the LMQHA all breed show at thunderbird

Posted 03-27-2006 at 12:25 PM by cassandra01000
this is for yesterday as hgs was down:

i think yesterday was just an off day. lol today at teh show completely rocked. we went to the LMQHA all breed schooling show at thunderbird and jimi did quite well
when we first got there jimi was very wired getting off the trailer and getting her tacked up but with the help of my friend that i drag to all my shows. lol we got jimi tacked up and walked over to the coverall where we warmed up, i was very nervous which was quite noticeable. lol just walked from circles, figure 8's and serpentines at one end the of the arena, before trotting some circles to help jimi and i both relax i kept cross my reins over her neck which i know not to do, my reins were uneven quite a bit of the time and id ont remember what i was doing but jimi was really leaning even when i was trotting. lol i only had 3 hours of sleep so my warm up is a bit fuzzy. anyways then we tried a bit of a canter in each direction which went ok but could have been better. but it was more of just making everything positive which i have to remember more often. lol anyways
then i walked her over to the indoor arena which sounds silly but was big for me because im usually uncomfortable even just walking in an open space when im riding her but she did fine. lol was a little unsure going in and out of the doors but she did ok didnt plow anyone down which was good. lol
hung out for about 15 minutes and waited for the w/t class to start when i went in jimi almost was gonna refused but i used a bit of leg and she rushed in. class went well, she spooked at the announcers box but i kept a tight rein and used more leg the next few times i went by and she got by it alright each time. i got 6th for this class and i was all smiles the entire time. lol
next class was basic seat eq, we had to do this weird pattern, i honestly had no clue what was going on. lol i got 6th in that class as well but i was so happy the entire time still even smiles even when jimi did a couple mini rears when i asked her to stop backing up and go forward, that was the other thing i was so impressed with was the fact that when i asked her ot back up in any of my classes she did it like it was nothing. yet i cant get her to do it at home. lol what a silly pony. anyways the pattern was the trot past 3 cones halt, turn around canter back, halt back up and then get back in line before we did the regualr w/t/c around the arena, this was basic seat eq novice rider btw. lol most thing went well in that class and the more i rode the more confident i got.
last class was hunter under saddle novice rider and jimi went really well in that the only problem we had was she was trying to haul me around and was not slowing down as quickly as i would have liked her to. i got 5th in that class and was very pleased with the outcome of the day.
her old owner came out to see her and again was quite impressed even gave me some of jimis old stuff so i now have a 2nd fly mask for jimi, a fly mask and some smb's
the only thing is though jimi needs a different bit, like somethign with a roller i'm pretty sure what was said because jimi was having a fantastic time sawing on the bit while we were just sitting in between classes, and unfortuneatly i was not wearing gloves so i could feel the reins being pulled between my fingers. we also need to work on her groudn manners at shows when we are tacking up and untacking because she got extremely rude at some points which i was not happy about but overall i am just ecstatic with how things went and as far as i know we are goign to the LRS schooling show on the 8th of april now
anyways i set out to accomplish what i wanted which was to get my horse out and have some fun and we did. lol and to see just how much ive improved from my fantabulous lessons that i am incredibly grateful for
