I joined up again last night, but duke was very listless and "I dont want to move, but will because you are making me"... I felt bad, but I kept him going. When he was willing to follow me- he very often dosnt come INTO me, but if I start walking away, he follows.

When I rode himhe was like....*ugggghhh* but when i used the lead rope( VERY LIGHTLY) as a crop of sorts, he was like oh, I have to move! And he got up and did his thing. But then he started slow poking again,...

OMG OMG OMG OMG

I actually achieved join-up with Duke!!!!!!!!

So I led him into the arena, too the lead off, stood diagonally from his shoulder and flicked his haunches with the lead rope. Off he went! And round and round we went. It was more of a work out for methan him, granted, that sand is hard to run through!!! Mainly, he stayed on one side of the ring, thank gods. But even then Inearly died of exhaustion. But I perservered and kept...

OMg my boys were so terrific today. Duke is tuning quite nicely to me in hand. Riding he hasnt "improved" but I've onyl ridden him maybe...three times now. *shrugs* so i dont expect results yet. and chances are its ME doing the wrong thing and hes perfectly fine. Which is very highly likely.

He still balks at taking the bit and will back up until he runs into sumthing before stopping, but once in he responds very well. He's a very touchy horse. But he...

Ok, so i spent alot of time with Duke in his stall fr the last two days to the point where he will sit for half an hour touching noses with me. I'll get a pic of I can.

anyways, so I igured he was calm enough under my hands to take him out a bit and ride. OK so today, all the horses were upset and ::explode::!!! Casanova even cantered a little when was leading him about the arena to let out some of his extra energy before riding.

So then I rode him and he responded well under me today. More than anything, he works by voice command of "hup-hup-hup!" or "get up!" I even got ina a few posts - bareback, mind you- but I coudnt really do it again. I definatly need a bareback pad cus his withers HURT....
