Queen Needs a Job

Posted 03-01-2006 at 01:08 AM by Shannon
Queen's barely into her 2nd week of stall rest, and she's already developing some bad habits thanks to me! I can hand walk her as much as I want, so I normally take her out of the stall, walk her over to the cross country course, and let her eat grass. Well now she thinks she can graze whenever we come across grass, so it's getting really annoying having to pull her head up every time we pass a big, ripe patch of grass

Derek, Kim and I took the 3 muskateers for a walk right at feeding...

Saddles, Rain and Muddy Horses

Posted 02-28-2006 at 12:34 AM by Shannon
So would anyone seriously just be willing to give me a saddle? It'd be nice

It's RAINING cats and dogs and muddy Stetsons. I went out to the barn in the morning. It had rained only for like 10 minutes before it stopped, so luckily I didn't get soaked. But...Stetson was ALREADY caked head to toe in mud! His poor blanket...which Kim JUST washed...I won't put all the pics on here, but look at his face: that's what the rest of his body looks like. His black blanket now looks like a coat...

Aw shucks

I found *another* splint on Queens LF today! It's old and doesn't cause her pain, but still. Jeez, that darn horse! I gave her a spongebath today because she can't stand in the cement washracks. That's just funny to me! She also ate all her bute for once. Good girl

I'm sick, agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain. I can't just be OK for a single day. I've been in and out of the doctors and I have an appointment next month with an allergist/immunologist. They think I either have a white blood cell...

Meh

Just a quickie...

X rays came back...Queen fractured her splint bone, but it's a "good" splint if such a thing exists, and the vet does not want any of those fancy injections or oitments for it. All he wants is 8-10 weeks stall rest Oh well, at least there are no more vet bills!

The chiro I was going to use suggested a farrier (I'd been really disappointed with my last guy's work, and knowledge!) from the same city my horse is in. I had him out today, and he...

On a scale of one to WOW, this splint is a WOW.

I'll get pictures of it tomorrow. It's her RH. He also thinks she has a problem with that hock, too, which caused her to really fail her flexion tests on her hind legs . I called the chiro off, because I want to see how much $$ it's going to be to fix the splint first. Plus, some of the manuevers the chiro would need to do might aggrivate her hock/splinted area. It...
