Sewing, Material, and Weddings

Posted 06-24-2008 at 09:08 AM by Goonhorse
I'm trying to hand sew the cape on my dress. I think it's some of the worst material I've ever had the "pleasure" of hand sewing. It probably doesn't help that the needle isn't the sharpest, but I am really struggling trying to get it to look nice--i.e. so you can't see the stitching at all from the "outside".

I feel very undeserving. So far since being baptized I've gotten three pieces of material for dresses and forty dollars worth of gift certificates to a fabric store owned by the a lady in the church. Not that forty dollars will go a really long ways with material, but still!

We've been having SO many baptisms this year. It's really great. Last Sunday there were five baptized. So far that's 11 for this year alone. I think there were only 2 last year.

The vet is coming tomorrow to check Breez before she gets bred.....

On July 4th we're going to my grandparents in Iowa for a family thingy. It's going to be so much fun. And then Mom and Dad are leaving Monday to go back home, but Jillian and I are staying at Grandma's. Then she'll take us to a different part in IA for a wedding which we're supposed to help serve at. We'll catch a ride back home with someone from our church.

Is the material really stretchy or is it all annoying and slippery? I've got some fabric that I thought was going to be wonderful and it turns out that it stretches really bad and leaves these ugly puckers! Grrr....

oooh *winces in sympathy* I feel for you! I really hate hand sewing...... it's so slow and time consuming and boring......... ick...... I'm really looking forward to when Laura get's married, and I'll get most of her dresses, so I don't have to sew for a while.
Buuuut, she isn't built the same way I am so her dresses probably won't fit anyway.
