Mules are "different"
I have come to the knowledge that RopeBurn has not been handled much. She shakes when I get close. I am more stubborn, so I will just stand close, invading her personal space, talking in a soft voice to her. She still shakes. At some point she has had some manners.
All will be well, nice relaxing rub on her neck and withers and she will bolt away for no reason I can think of.
It would make a preacher cuss.
But I just let her run around the round pen until she stops with that puzzled look
. She is running and running but not getting any farther from me.
Last night I talked to the man from the sale who wanted to buy her. I told him she was not broke to work and would not be what she wanted. He is an old buck'em out cowboy type. He asked if he could come out this week and watch me work horses in the round pen. I said he could. He then said he would give me a cart, to go behind the mule.

| | Re: RpeBurnWeee driving is fun! At the mule place I worked at, they had a mule about RopeBurn's size who we drove. Yes mules are much different than horses...you have to go about training a little different. More or less have to make them think it's their idea to do it. LOL |

| | I have mules and they do that sometimes. They especially do that if theyve been mistreated or abused before. One of my mules, Wendell was abused before we got him and he is scared of all men (except the ferrier, he loves him to death). You just have to be patient and try to spend all the time u can with her. Also try not to make her do anything that could hurt her. Mules seem stuborn when they wont go but really they wont do anything that could hurt or danger them. Good luck with her. ps. let her warm up to u by just sitting in a lawn chair in the pasture so that she gets used to ur smell and u maybe she needs to know more about u. |
