Rain, wind, what more could we ask for?

Posted 01-27-2008 at 07:56 PM by LilyAnn
Snow, perhaps? actually I would prefer snow to this rain and WIND. Oh my goodness the wind is something else - 30 MPH with gusts over 40 MPH all day today. I had a hard time sleeping last night from the rain hitting the windows/roof. I felt so bad for the horses - the barn has a metal roof which is loud in the rain Poor babies.

The horses were none too happy about the rain - Poor E acts like the world is ending when it rains, she fusses and prances and refuses to step in puddles and snorts and tosses her purty lil head and is an absolute prima donna about the whole thing. S and baby PJ are less ruffled and generally take it all in stride. I just hope it clears up for our farrier appt on Thursday, the whole barn area is a complete mess right now.

S & E got a ride yesterday, the first one all week (I was down in Carlsbad for most of the week, so no riding for me). PJ got his second "alone" turnout, and he was very good, hardly fussed but enjoyed kicking up his heels. He has mellowed out a lot since he was weaned, he is less of a you know what, in general

Today nothing got done except feed, and that was hard enough in the wind (ever tried feeding hay in 40 MPH winds and rain, esp because our hay storage is DOWNWIND from the barn I was picking hay out of my hair for a few hours afterwards LOL, I'm such a weather snob, some people have this type of weather all winter long, and we get a few days a year and I'm done.

None horse stuff - I've cheated a lot this week, between travelling, and last night I made gnocchi that had been sitting in the cupboard for a while, and today I made chocolate chip cookies for Hubby to take to work tomorrow (I had to sample them, of course! Make sure they were good They were - I had 6? or maybe more). I also made my infamous oatmeal bread for Hubby's lunches, but I didn't eat any I will probably be up on my weight tomorrow, but thats ok. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical, plus a 2 mile run on Saturday, so it wasn't a total loss. Ok, writing about these cookies has made me hungry! Hopefully the weather will improve and I can write about more horse related stuff. Later
