In my bussiness, we can totally change the way someone looks...
Hair colour, and removal,make-up,that does not wash off, hair extensions, wrinkle removal,
the entire envelope. But, it is just the wrapping paper,
we can not do a thing about the inside, that is entirely up to them.
People seem to think changing their outside, will change their insides..
I look like this because of what I belive and who I am , and it is my personal freedom.
Sure! keep telling yourself things like that.
Hey, I had a purple mo hawk, a Doc Martin collection, and all the trappings.
Long before you could walk into any mall in America and find Hot Topic.
I was younger, I loved the attention, and the reactions.
Anyone who goes to extremes to look "differently" does.
My friends did not all look like me,and I did not expect them to,
they did not belive what I did, or come from the same sort of family I did.
I enjoyed the diversity, and still do to this day.
Being in the beauty bussiness, I could go to work
dressed the way I wanted too,
my hair could never be outragious enough,
it was the 80's, so was everyone elses in one way or another.
We really did celebrate our differences.
Now, even goths emos and punks have become so homogonized.
You rarely see someone and say, NOW that is UNIQUE!
Nope ,I see a sea of sameness. And I feel I have a right to feel let down.
After all my generation laid the foundation! struck out and acted up!
Even faith is becoming a "trend" not a lifestyle.
Oh I am a neo this or a that. Oh really ?
wearing a bit of jewerly and saying you are, does not make you so.
Religion, takes discipline.
Weather you worship Shiva or sit it, you LIVE faith.
You do not simply pay lip service to it. Do not fool yourself,
anyone with more than two functioning brain cells knows the difference.
Rights, we all have them, I have the right to love my animals,
there are sadly countless ones with no love,
what do we do? we do what we can.
I feel education is the key,
some feel slaughter is,
some feel rescue is.
I wish there were an easy answer.
But when some one is so anti euthanize,
yet speaks to their fellow man, like dirt,
that confusses me,we are the Earths stewards,
so people do play a roll, be nice to them too.
I am a child of nature, so is fungus,
I am a Dryad, at a Rave maybe,
I am a horse, perhaps the back end of one,
a pony, a bear cub, the Crone, the Pope,
a piece of driveway gravel.
Whatever.
There are ties that bind us,
and when you strip off the trappings and paint,
we are really fundamentaly the same.
Reguardless of what we wear,
how we ride,
and what we belive.
At this point in my life, I celebrate THAT.
Peace my friends,
Paula

Good for you Paula! I myself never had the urge to do the purple mohawk. I suppose in your line of work you had to try it to see if others would follow suit..... and you were right.
