OMG I MIGHT GET A HORSE

I MIGHT GET A HORSE!!!

OMG YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, now, thisis definate, incase my mother says no *PLEASE MOM DONT!!!*, but there is a good chance i might get a horse!!!!!!!
ME <---big horse fanatic!

And yes, I am very aware, a horse is a big reponsibility, expensive, a big chrage. LOL. I took riding lessons for a year and a half, six months before that when I was a kind. Have been around horses alot in my life. I promise, I know more than it sounds like!

So my godmother has a BIIIGG bag yard. Half an acher (sps?)My godmother thinks we can house the horse in the backyard. There will be plenty of room. There's room for atleast a good, tight canter plus shelter area.
Ok, so I came out of petsmart, which now has a horse section, and my godmother asked if there was anythig I wanted.
"Only stuff for an animal I cant have," I anwered with a sigh. So then nonee completly surprises me and goes,
"I wonder if we could put ahorse in our backyard...is it big enough?"
And the plans were off. We'll need to level the ground big time- tons of gopher holes. Could easily break a leg on that.***** gophers LOL*, but that easily enough done- with hired help. My way of seeing it- if your not a professional, your not doing it, cus im not going toget my horses leg broken. A new fensce will have to be put up in front oforin place of that pathetic chainlink thing the neighbors call an excuse for a fence- horse could easily break a leg on that too, not to mention if the wire breaks and sticks out, it could cut the horse.
A shelter will have to be put in aswell. And either the old shed will have to be taken out, or redone onthe sidesand used as a storage for feed.
I've figured out all the costs of feed and tack and care stuff, and have slpit it down to daily, then monthly, then how much each of us ( me mom, and nonee), would pay per month ( for feed and farrier ).
Im thinking by the time weget this hose*not for a while*, I will have a job and be able to help pay, and if mom and nonee chip in- which nonee had the idea in the first place, it'd all work out. Now I just have to present it to my mom and get her to agree with it.
Shes wanted a horse for a while too, but she didnt have the time or money. Butnow she wont have to worry about time driving me anywhere, andshe'll only be paying one third of the total price per month!
Gods, I really really really really hopethi works out. It's been my dream mywhole dang life since I was like three! *gets on bended knee* PLEASE WORK!!!!!

i don't know where you live, but for me- in wester Oregon- a half an acre would be a mud worry. We get a lot of rain and if I only had half an acre to turn out on, I'm afraid I'd have to keep the horse in on soggy days (so, for me, 300 days out of the year, lol) Remember to keep pasture management in min, too. The most important thing is to find a horse that really suites you, too many first time owners fail to reall examine what they want to do with the horse and more importantly, what level they are as riders AND handlers. I'd suggest that whatever level you think you are, go look at at least a few horses who are for a level below you. (Say you're intermediate, go look at beginner horses) You can never go wrong with a horse that's 'too easy' for you, for your first horse anyway. The only other thing I can think of is taht you make sure you bring someone who knows horses with you, knows conformation and can read a horse's expression, they can save you a lot of time and really help you get the right one.

But, other than that, congrats! You must be so excited! I hope everything works out for you and you find your dreamhorse!!
