Ladies and Gentlemen... we have changes!

Posted 09-28-2006 at 07:22 AM by No1Dazy
Ok, so after Monday's HORRIBLE lesson, my instructor did me the honor of riding his Grand Prix horse. This was really cool, as he doesn't allow ANYONE to ride this horse! Dee really taught me a lot about where I was sitting, and how I needed to sit for the change. I rode him for TWO HOURS--a new record for my longest lesson...

And at the end I got to play with Piaffe and Passage. AWESOME! That was the neatest feeling.

So yesterday, we came back with new resolution...

Ready for this to happen!

I haven't cried after a lesson in a long time. I just feel like I'm letting my horse down by not being able to ride a decent flying change... And someone else teaching it to her or me learning off another horse is just not an option (no higher schooled horse available, and my trainer has a back problem so she can't ride Bella's leaping...). So no easy way out for me.

We're going to Richard's Boot Camp for Flying Changes. We've been playing with the change off and on in clinics since...

Still trucking! 20 lb club

Posted 08-28-2006 at 08:56 AM by No1Dazy
I didn't eat exceptionally well this weekend, but I did ride FIVE horses yesterday, so I'm feeling pretty good (and sore) today. Back to the barn this evening for me--I want to be lazy and go home, but I'm not going to.

First day...

Well, I'm joining the 20 pound club with 25 pounds lost since January of this year. I've plateau'ed, so I need help to get back on track! I'd like another 15 pounds off, at least.

As I lose weight, I notice that it gets easier to ride the difficult horses... And I seem to have plenty of those around lately! (I've got one horse in training who spends his life trying to be a monster to his kid, and another horse who's gaits are so extravagant that she's just a very physically demanding...
