I have a horse in training with me right now who is one of the biggest, um, "rebels" I've ever seen. He bucks, rears, you name it. I took him in training to keep him from killing the young teenager who owns him! He's a really attractive horse, when he keeps all four feet on the ground. Anyways, I ride him at home in a gag bit (with two reins, so I can use it as a snaffle while he's behaving) to keep him from being able to get into a position to buck me off. I rarely ride ANY horse...

Well, Flying Change boot camp is over and Bella is home. I've never seen a horse so happy to be back! I'm sure she's over the REALLY hard work she's been doing for the past week.

I got what I wanted, which is knowing that we COULD teach her changes--we weren't sure if that was even possible. So we know they're in there, and she CAN do them easily and correctly.

Last night wasn't as good as the lesson before, since she came out a little sore, but we got lots of...

Ok, so after Monday's HORRIBLE lesson, my instructor did me the honor of riding his Grand Prix horse. This was really cool, as he doesn't allow ANYONE to ride this horse! Dee really taught me a lot about where I was sitting, and how I needed to sit for the change. I rode him for TWO HOURS--a new record for my longest lesson...

And at the end I got to play with Piaffe and Passage. AWESOME! That was the neatest feeling.

So yesterday, we came back with new resolution...

I haven't cried after a lesson in a long time. I just feel like I'm letting my horse down by not being able to ride a decent flying change... And someone else teaching it to her or me learning off another horse is just not an option (no higher schooled horse available, and my trainer has a back problem so she can't ride Bella's leaping...). So no easy way out for me.

We're going to Richard's Boot Camp for Flying Changes. We've been playing with the change off and on in clinics since...

I didn't eat exceptionally well this weekend, but I did ride FIVE horses yesterday, so I'm feeling pretty good (and sore) today. Back to the barn this evening for me--I want to be lazy and go home, but I'm not going to.
