My life in all its glory with my sidekicks, Penny and Eddie.
No Twin for Ed

So, I was going to jump Ed today and he is worse than before.
At the trot he was really out behind, like his legs were trailing behind him, and he was really active with his tail (he normally is to some extent, but he was more like a hot arab in respect to his tail today). He didn't pin his ears, but he wasn't comfortable and was simply trying to make due. At the canter, it was disastrous. He COULDN'T canter. Basically, it went like this:
Me (with my leg): Ed, canter.
Ed: No. (sucks back away from bit)
Me: Ed, canter now.
Ed: Nu-uh! (pins ears, further sucking back)
Me: Ed, CANTER. (stronger leg aids, no contact with mouth to encourage movement forward)
Ed: NO! (BIG bucks)
My poor boy.
The most we got out of him without bucking at the canter was very strung out all the way around the arena.
We cancelled Twin. Fortunately, there was a large waiting list for Training spots, so I have credit now for the next Twin.
On Friday, I'm having the vet come out to give Ed his first hock injections and Penny will get her 270 day pregnancy check.
I will probably still go to Twin to root everyone on, though.
On the good side, Gina said that, since I'm staying home, I would be able to hack McKinlaigh.
I must say, I had a face like
when she told me. I will only be lots of walking and about 5 minutes of trotting since he is coming back into work now after time off from the Olympics, but it will be an AMAZING 5 minutes!
