Cheating.......

Posted 03-04-2008 at 03:49 PM by Newhorseaddict
So... I cheated on my horse yesturday . Shhh - don't tell him but it was great. We couldn't get out of our driveway so my daughter, her friend and myself went to have a lesson on lesson horses. I rode a little pony by the name of little V. I think she is only like 14'2 so compared to my 15'3 horse she felt very small. It was a hoot - she has a bit of attitude and didn't give anything away but it was fun to try something different. We did a little jumping (which she isn't fond of by the way)...

Did I say Ice?

Posted 02-26-2008 at 04:23 PM by Newhorseaddict
No not ice.... now it's snow. Snow, snow and more snow. They are saying up to a foot. Should I cry, stomp my feet, scream, I don't know maybe do all three? I am tired of winter. That is it -I am just sick and tired of it. I believe Buster and Loki have had enough too. Had enough of being couped up and enough of the winter blahs. I can't believe the weather - yesturday it was almost 40 degrees (yep 40 can you believe it and today we are getting a blizzard - not fair I am telling you - just a tease...

It's Rainin' Hair! Hallelujah! It's Rainin'Hair!

Posted 02-23-2008 at 01:29 PM by Newhorseaddict
Well... not exactly hallelujah. More like God help me ! I am not sure where all the hair comes from..... it just keeps coming and coming and coming. And.... geez it's only February. I curried and shedding combed and brushed for like and hour and a half and he still has hair wafting all over the place. Yes my horse wafts - he is very proper you know. He wouldn't want me to say that about him since he a big guy - very macho indeed. Anyway, may shedding season soon be over and spring be...

ICE! NO MORE ICE!

Posted 02-20-2008 at 03:46 PM by Newhorseaddict
Ok - so I have lived in Vermont my whole life and not until now have I disliked winter sooooo much! Now -I must admit that before horse ownership I haven't spent that much time outside in the middle of February (always been a cold girl) and certainly not picking up poop but now it is part of my every day accurance. Give me a warm, sunny day in May and maybe only riding my horse seems like a better idea. I then relish paddock duty but not today - today I am sick of the ice! My yard is like a skating...

The Beginning

Posted 02-19-2008 at 05:08 PM by Newhorseaddict
Well.... Ok, so this is my first journal entry so I thought I would give a little background into this passion of mine called horses. I was never one of those little girls that was gaga over the equine and begged my parents for a horse. As a matter of fact when I was 5, my brother (who happens to be 6 years older then me) had a pony that he decided he didn't want anymore and my parents actually gave me the option of keeping the pony and having Trigger (yup I know the name ) be mine. Now how...
