My first entry 3/24/2008

I can't believe I started this, had a whole bunch written out and I hit a stray button and it all disappeared! Sometimes I HATE computers!! Hopefully I can remember what I wrote. I have never kept a journal before for longer than a week or so, so I'm hoping that now that I'm older, I can do a better job

So today I put off going out to the horses till later because I was working on Jared's costume for the shakespeare play in May. It's almost done and with it being a nice day, I thought the horses could wait a bit longer. Well, Connie S called at about 3:30 and said that my girls were over visiting at their house. They did that about 4 months ago in really yucky weather - broke down the gate and headed over to visit the neighbors. They broke the gate this time too. I'm not sure how they did it but when I saw the gate, I was sure I was going to be doing some vetting when we got home Last time we grabbed the trailer and hauled them 2 at a time back home, but this time we put Dolly and Sassie in the trailer, tied Amiga and Lola to the back of the trailer and let Velvet follow with them. Velvet did a great job of course, and Lola got some more lesson on giving to pressure hahaha M rode Missy and I drove the truck. Then about half way back, he asked if I wanted to ride and I took him up on it. Missy is so nice to ride bareback, although she tends to 'wander' so you have to be alert all the time. Anyway, we got back to the land, put the girls in the round pen and went to work on the gate. They broke the top strand of smooth wire and broke the main post in half like a matchstick. I couldn't believe that none of them got hurt. Lola has a line of hair missing on her cheek that I assume is from getting whipped by the top wire, although I'm not sure. I have absolutely NO idea how they broke that post. I really need to get that hot wire up so they stay away fron the fences. Sometimes I think they have no respect for them! Anyway, we got the gate fixed and let them out of the round pen to get some hay, cleaned up some junk around the property to throw in the garbage, tied my tarps down tighter as the wind was blowing ferociously today, and then we left for home. M is on vacation this week so he offered to help and it was wonderful!! He is a great fence fixer!
I'm glad my girls are back home and safe, and no one got hurt seriously, and that they did so well the way we moved them.
