My Davis Adventure!!!

So wow! A lot has happened since I last wrote in here. I finally had my vet look at Kezy, he thought it looked like her shoulder had a major enjurey. Possibly fracture shoulder blade or bone chip. That was pretty upsetting news. My vet did want me to have x-rays taken to make sure.
I was very down after this, I really like Keziah, and I haven't even gotten to ride her yet!! I decided to take her to Davis sooner rather then later even though I dont' really have the money right now, I really want to know what is going on with her.
I took both mares up together, so Lucy could be scoped to see if she was regaining any movement in her artenoids. Which by the way she has! Yeah!
I made a lamness exam for Kezy because I didn't know what kind of x-rays she would need and my vet was being very unhelpfull about it.
As calm as Kezy is at home she is equally nervous at a place like UC Davis!! She would not hold still and kept whinning right in my ear! Lucy (who for the most part was being held by my boyfriend who could not have been more wonderful for me that day!!!) was being an angel! They started Kezy's lamness test just before taking Lucy in to be scoped, I sort of bounced between the two. Kezy of course trotted out barely lame at all! A week and a half ago she was barely putting any wieght at all on it!! I was mystified, but assured the vets that she was more lame then that. So while they went through the flex tests, Lucy was scoped and weighed (she regained 150 lbs in the past several months! Yeah!) Then while Lucy waited to half an xray done of her lungs the other vets brought Kezy in to calm down a bit because every time she would see Lucy she would get more upset (keep in mind that these two mares do not live together and Kezy kicks the snot out of Lucy when they are in together) we gave Kezy some hay to help calm her down. Within 20 seconds of giving her the hay she started choking. Sigh this poor horse just can't get a break!
At that point the vets flushed her then scoped her then let her rest, but had to put so much drugs in her that they could not continue the lamness test, plus they wanted to keep her to a couple more days to make sure she was going to be ok.
Yesterday they scoped her again, and everthing looked good. The started her back on hay today. They did some more flex tests today and think something may be going on with her knee, so they are going to do some films on it. If nothing shows up then they will continue blocking her leg tomorrow (they can't today because she still has banamine in her system).
SO that is our Davis adventure so far, more to come soon!!
