Buckwheat's training

Posted 08-01-2007 at 07:12 AM by katylynn06
Well since DH got on him my son Joe has been on him 3x. Yesterday they walked around the round pen for about a 1/2 an hour. Today we are going to come out of the round pen and see what he does. I will be holding onto a lead rope just in case he decides he wants to act up. But things are going good. I'm so excited hopefully by the end of the month my son will be riding him out in the pasture with no problems.

New Gelding gone

Posted 05-05-2007 at 06:45 AM by katylynn06
I took the new gelding to the livestock auction on Thursday. I figured the sooner the better to get rid of him. Now we have 4 horses and all seem to get along just fine. The gelding was a good boy in the ring. I had a friend show him and he did a wonderful job with him. The gelding was quiet and well behaved it was like he wasn't the same horse. But I had to get rid of him didn't want to take any chances. So since the whole new horse thing BW has been training neglected and it's time to get back...

New horses

Posted 05-01-2007 at 10:58 AM by katylynn06
Well here we are day 4 of the new horses after playing musical horses the last couple of days all 5 horses are grazing in the pasture. The new gelding will not let BW near the mare. We have named the mare Bonnie, the filly Fizz and the gelding Clyde. We have decided to sell the gelding my husband doesn't want anything to happen to our other horses, the neighbor horses or anyone of us. The gelding is very attached to the mare so I feel it would be a lot of work to try and deherd or debuddy him....

New horses

Posted 04-28-2007 at 06:13 AM by katylynn06
Well my husband went and bought three new horses yesterday and I'm not sure it was the right thing to do. We bought 2 mares and a newly gelded gelding. The gelding does not like Buckwheat and vice versa so we may end up getting rid of him. I don't know we will have to see how this works out. The gelding got his foot caught in the barbed wire 2x after we brought them home. I don't know what else to say. Kind of discouraged at everyones behaviour. I had no intention on buying a horse let alone 3 yesterday...
