Trying!.

Posted 02-25-2008 at 04:14 PM by jhalton
Hmmm bored at work. What has been happening? We did not end up going camping but went up for the day only to ride the quad bike around abit and give the dog a run. Last night I picked up the kids from school and we went for a ride on Champ. First I lunged him and he was an angel - hmm he knows I have the whip now! He is respecting me a lot more and not trying any funny business. I rode him first and got my daughter to take some photos so I could see where my feet/legs go. It was pretty good!...

I want a float!

Posted 02-18-2008 at 07:44 PM by jhalton
We are going camping this weekend and I really really wanted to take Champ. So I looked at how much floats are to hire and at $81 it was far too much as I would need it for 3 days = $243. Ohhh Darnit! I just dont know any horsey people at this stage well enough to ask to loan their float... Me and Champy would have had so much fun! And been able to have a gallop! Oh well...

He is going great now and his belly is growing! I think it it because he is pigging his food - he just...

One girl from the agistment was having a lesson, but she was running a bit late. So, while her teacher was waiting (she has never spoken to me before!), she came over and introduced herself, then she said "I really wanted to say I really like the way you care for your horse - I see you over here talking to him all the time and doing lots of small things for him and it...

After the storm

Posted 02-09-2008 at 10:46 PM by jhalton
Well I decided to take Champ out and I was going to go up and down the road to work on his attitude to walking back. Boy! What a mistake! If 7 or 8 trucks didn't go past, call me nelly. The first 4 or 5 were normal sized, like garbage trucks, but one went past that was a enormouse B-Double. Champ was already razzed up because of the "lessons", but this thing going past was the last straw! He tried to take off but I managed to stop him and jump off. He was ok with me beside him as...

road testing!!

Posted 02-03-2008 at 06:22 PM by jhalton
I have taken Champ out for a couple of rides along the roads around the area, in different directions. As I said before the first time I took him out he showed a bit of spunk on the way home. The second time we did a kind of circular route where he didnt know he was going home - kind of surprised him to end up there! Well yesterday I took him out for a bit longer as I had more time, and all was going fine. I took him a fair way and then let him eat grass. Well, upon heading home, he kicked...
