Champ much better now. I have ridden him a few times and he has pulled up ok, so now I will be gradually building up the time. He is not so happy about having to work again - he had his unhappy face on! But he worked well - we just did a bita walking and trotting - next time I will get out the poles. We did them today but I just led him over, because they are physio excercises, so a bit tougher than just flat poles.

Yesterday I lunged him - and he wanted to canter and buck! Well...

getting better - fingers crossed!

After another week of "light work" Champ seems to be much improved. By light work I just mean leading him - and walking on the lunge with a few bursts of slow trot after he is warmed up somewhat. I found some goanna oil in the cupboard that I will never use, so rub it on his knees before I start - it seems to help. It smells really menthol, so he doesnt really like it, but his knees mover freer. Now they are not bad. I am actually going to ride him for a bit today. Just walking and...

Ongoing problems...

Posted 04-09-2008 at 06:44 PM by jhalton
Well it never seems to end with Champ. After getting a few massages from me and a bit of a rest to let his hip heal, now he has a sore knee... I dont know. If I ride him again I will be lucky... Poor boy - I was walking him around a bit and watching his hip before I noticed the knee, so I asked him to trot...

Wow - I had my friend come out and give Champ a treatment. Over the last 3 months or so I have noticed that he is tight in the muscles, and have been massaging some that are easy like his hamstrings and back, and legs. Anyway I have been noticing that he does not like his rear feet lifted and sometimes will strick out. I was pretty sure that this was due to some kind of pinching in his back, so I was asking around the few horse people I know about chiros. Well anyway got to talking to someone...

New Saddle

Posted 03-12-2008 at 06:53 PM by jhalton
Guess what I became an ebayer for the first time! I "accidently" got a saddle from it and I am so excited! Here's what happened. I was looking on ebay at various things I cant afford... I have never gotten anything off ebay before, although I have made a few half hearted bids... Anyway there was this saddle on there - a wintec dressage pro with cair and adjustable gullet. Others on there were going for around $600 and this one had about 4 or 5 days to go on it. There were a lot of...
