03-31-07 1 leg, 2 legs

Posted 04-01-2007 at 07:44 AM by JBandRio
Miss Nip continues to please me She retained everything from the last ride, the quiet trotting. Now don't get me wrong, we still have to go through out 1 leg doesn't meant go, but now 2 legs does", and then get past the initial fast trotting. BUT, everything progressed much faster today - time was probably cut in half.

And, much to everyone's amazement I'm sure I have........VIDEO!

They are big though, so I need to figure out how to reduce their size. So...

Well well well, this must have been, like, the best ride, like, EVERRRRRRRRR

Seriously - Catnip is so smart and learns so quickly once she figures out the right path. She makes up about seventyzillion possible paths and searches every one of them. But when she realizes she finds the right one, she just zooooms on down it!

3-13-07 Nose to the toes

Posted 03-28-2007 at 10:06 AM by JBandRio
Did you know that a pony is perfectly capable of trotting with her nose ON the ground AND while moving in a 5m circle? And that the rider of said pony can manage not to fall off due to laughing her a$$ off?

Well now you do

What seems to work best for her is big lazy fig 8's and serpentines. She seems to actually really like the curvy figures more than straight lines. Maybe the racing background? Not sure - never had one who seemed to prefer the curving lines! So we did more of that today - nearly 200' long ring, and we'd get 3 lazy serpentines in it, circles are 1/2 the ring (100' diameter circle, roughly). She's a real thinker, and I think she just likes the challenge of the curve - it's certainly more interesting,...
