It's Raining, It's Pouring

Posted 06-20-2008 at 10:34 AM by southern_horse

So here I sit, eating saltwater taffy (it's delish), listening to the rain and typing this entry. Mama and I got some flowers and plants for the patio; we were able to work out there for a little while before the typical Florida weather came. Every summer it's like this: nice in the morning, hot during the late morning and early afternoon, and then showers in the early to late afternoon and sometimes into the evening. It really makes it hard for me to go out and ride my horse; and here I had hoped to get him and I back in shape for the show season this Fall. I love to usually ride in the evenings, but it looks like this summer I am just going to have to learn to ride in the mornings.

Poor EZ; this rainy weather brings the bugs out which always manages to affect his skin. He get's these nasty hive-like irritations all over. It's not that I don't spray him; it's primarily because I am not out there everyday (esp. when it's raining 24/7) to spray him routinely (another reason why I can't wait till I have property and a barn of my own someday). Luckily he stays inside during the day, but he's turned out at night (which I don't know, maybe it should be flip-flopped; but then again, I don't like the sun beating down on him). Well enough of my little rant. I am just glad he appears to be overall happy and healthy
