Holidays and Birthday Surprises

My parents were here visiting me over Thanksgiving. They had been in Switzerland in September and decided to stop in here on their way home. They were here for a week but over the long weekend we rented a car and drove around the province. Cape Breton is especially nice during fall because of all the colours.
We had a really good time and I'm so thankful they came. It was a much-needed holiday away from my boring life and I feel like I know this province a little bit better than the couple blocks I frequent every day! I also got to visit the two other universities I had thought about attending here in Nova Scotia, and decided that I definitely made the right choice.
I learned, yet again, that Canada is practically empty!!
Nice little Atlantic scene at Peggy's Cove (not too far from where I live):

On another note, Tim was here visiting over this past weekend. He just left this morning
It was very nice having him here. He had many wonderful birthday surprises for me. The best of all was finding out that he's been secretly taking riding lessons from my sister! Such a shock!! I never thought that man would get on a horse - he never showed much interest and has one of those classic "when i once rode a horse it ran away with me and i nearly died" stories. So it came as such a surprise to find out that he's been riding, and to hear him talk about what he does, and the horse that he rides (Duplicate). Awh, what a wonderful man
I couldn't stop grinning - both from surprise and from excitement. His goal, he says, is to get good enough so that he can start going on trail rides with me
Maya refuses to tell me anything about his riding abilities. I totally want to know if he's natural or hopelessly awful. I'm already dreaming about him being the next Andreas Helgstrand or something.
