The HGS Fair Hill Ride, Meet up and cook out!

Well that was a blast, we had 7 riders, and I think 6 non riders, some members, and some family and friend's of members there.....All in all it was a great time!
Let's see, tbtrainer and her vet came and rode, Travler'girl (Karen) rode, and brought Sandy (irideazip) and her dog Lance along....Hil29 and Horsecraze120 came, Hillery's dad also came, and hung out with the non riders....My friend Linda and her friend Patrick came, she brought Amber for me to ride, and her pony Beanie....Rod brought the grill, table, and chairs (then went home ) HorseEnthusiest (Jonathan) showed up....And JCH, "John" and his daughter Jen drove all the way down from NY, to cook delishious Chicken!
So 13 people, or 14 if you count Rod, as he came back to haul the grill and stuff back home...
We went on a nice ride, through hay fields, and trails, crossed a covered bridge,(which is a historic old bridge, but ok to ride or drive a car through, wish we had got a pic of it...)a small creek and a concrete bridge. All the horses were well behaved, even the greenie ones
Flash had never been on a trail ride, or even ridden with other horses before, he took it all in stride, and was a good boy for his mom...
I guess we rode for about 2 hours or better...the weather was sunny, hot, but not too bad, the bugs were not bad at all. We passed the training track and barns, that house the tb's that are in training....Barbaro's old home base!
We returned from the ride, to the smell of John's delishious chicken, ready to eat!
The parking area we chose, had a water hydrant, and I brought a hose along......that made things nice....they had hitching posts available....
I really hope everyone had as good of a time as I did...this was my 4th ride in about 3? years....Amber my step horsey, is a 19 year old morgan mare, she was a sweetie....but she has that fire, that made her a good show morgan...I can't wait to get her driving again...the ferrier was here today to put her shoe back on...(she had to wear an easyboot for the ride)
Linda and I are suppose to ride again this evening, and also tomorrow, maybe even haul 6 miles down the road to the Susquhanna State Park, where there are great trails to ride on!
I can see this summer being one of the best I have had in a long time....riding with my best friend, and hopefully meeting up at fair hill with some other HGS members that could not make it to this ride, some that came, and want to ride again!
....it won't be as fancy...but hey, a sandwich and cold drink is all you need after a ride....Linda knows all the trails up there, and there are 5000 acres up there to ride on!
I can't wait to get Amber in shape, to go driving up there! Then I can take a passenger along, and carry an ice chest of cold drinks along and a picnic basket!
I will be sure to post when I will be riding up at Fair Hill again....just incase someone want's to join us!
