My warmbloods' were so aloof,
but my thoroughbred is such a goof!


He checks my hands and pockets too,
to try and find a treat or two.

He wants to see me everyday,
not only when I have his hay...

He's tall and thin, and can be hot,
but - Oh My Gosh! I can sit his trot!!

On NH and Bucking/Rearing

On NH:
The problem I personally have with NH in many cases is that its often taken as Gospel - and it is unwaivering and not customized to the horse. ALL horses are individuals - they think, learn and react differently. While much of the NH concept works with a wide variety of them, I find that NH trainers often don't adjust when it doesn't work on every horse and then label the horse as "untrainable" or react in anger or frustration.

Jumping

First, I believe that flat work should be solid before jumping is introduced. Should be going well w/t/c and picking up leads pretty consistantly. Should be balanced, soft, and able to maintain tempo. Should not be rushing. Transistions should be well schooled, balanced as well.

Horse should be able to walk/trot and canter quietly over ground poles without getting excited or rushing.

Horse should be responsive to half halts, should be schooling leg yeilds, be able to...
