Busy Life!

Posted 07-20-2008 at 05:34 PM by jhalton
Well so much has been happening trying to get ready to get the piece of land but we are nearly there The house is looking its best (you know it is amazing when you actually CLEAN the garage how good it looks!) We have painted and washed and scrubbed and tidied until our arms feel like they are going to drop off.

And horses? What horses?! They have been sooo neglected! I have just fed them, said a quick hello then off! Yesterday I got to spend some time with them and it was soo nice. I rode Champ first and fussed over him, then Evie and fussed over her. Then the farrier came and they both got a pedicure. Evie was really good. I have arranged to get some lessons on her - yay! I am great with walk and trot but totally hopeless with the canter. I have realised I dont support the horse at all - just push on and let them do whatever. Which is really bad and I want to really learn how to support them and get some impulsion and keep their head up etc. It is not that I am scared to do it I have just never been taught correctly. I tried cantering on Evie and she put her head down (which I let her) and she stopped and did a couple of little humps to unseat me. I didnt come off but one more little hump and I would have lol! So I was thinking that I am really hopeless when it comes to cantering. Once we get going I am fine but I just kind of leave the horse. Oh well I can only get better hey!

So it was good to get out and spend some time with them. I also got to see Mac the day before. We just did some ground work and played with the new foal Maverick who is coming along in leaps and bounds. My friend has him leading and lifting his feet and kinda sorta standing still lol! Amazing from not letting anyone touch him to that. I said "who's this horse?" knowing all the time he was Maverick, but he will be sooo good in a few months even.

So I just gotta suck it up around work and get through it. Not long now anyway! In Sep I will be taking some days off to start my new job, and after a few weeks of that it will be "surprise - I'm leaving!". Looking forward to that day. Who wouldn't prefer to test wine for the day instead of playing with mice! The aim will be not to get any mouse and that is fine by me!! (mouse is an unwanted odour in wine that means unwanted air has got to it).

Still cant quite believe we have that property. It was soooo stressful! All the paperwork has been signed so it really is ours, but I am sure we wont believe it until we set foot on it with our own key!

Just gotta find someone to buy our house. We already have an offer - $10 -15,000 short of what we want, but when it comes down to it we will take it. First open for inspection this weekend so that will give us a better idea of who's looking and what they will pay. In the end who cares? This is it!

yes it is so exciting - I have to keep pinching myself that it is real! First getting a horse, then another, then another (LOLOLOLOL!) and now the dream of moving to the country - it is so surreal I sometimes wonder how I will feel when I finally get there - you know, if it lives up to my expectations!? But it will I know - it is far and beyond what I ever thought we would end up with. Thanks for looking
