Ack! Why do better deals always come too late?

So like I've said before, I have a place in Halifax. A house right across from the school, looks like a nice enough house, rent is really reasonable. The people seem nice. They told me they were science students so didn't have the time to party. I said great, I'll take it.
Well, I have these girls added to my Facebook and it sure seems to me like they have time to party. One of the girls just had a birthday and they had a kegger house party. Ack! I was intending on just ignoring this. I already said I'd take the room like a month ago and nothing else was presenting itself. Besides, every other place would be the same: don't all university students have keggers?
Well. Today I got a message. This girl has a house with an open room. They are all Christians, and sound like very sane and sound people. The type of people I would befriend. The rent is slightly more expensive, but I would more likely be friends with these people. I cannot see myself being very good friends with the girls at the other house. It seems like a great situation. I've really been praying that I can meet some Christian friends in Halifax since I have none here.
Now I don't know what to do. This new house is exactly what I was originally wanting. The girl even rides horses!
Can I say to the other girls that I don't want their room anymore? Is that totally rude and unethical?
Blah! Why do these good things always have to come after you've already made another commitment?
Perhaps I am just usually too rash in my decision making and I should learn to wait for these better things.

It's worth it to feel like you're being rude (which you're not, you've just found something that will be better for ALL parties involved) if you find a better option! Speaking from experience here...lol |

And besides, wouldn't it be a worse situation if you stayed there, and didn't get along with those girls? Then everyone would have probably wished you had decided to go somewhere else in the first place. Besides, you don't even have to tell them why you are no longer taking the room. Just say that circumstances changed (which they did) and that you'll no longer be able to take that room. They'll survive. They'll get over it. They'll find someone else to rent the room. You'll be happier. |
