We had another good week, Lexy and I. She is getting better at the stop but she still likes to be a bit wild at the lope when I first ask her. If fact, I have to work her a good 15 to 20 minutes before she starts to pay good attention to me. She still likes to buck a bit when you first put the saddle on but only about 1 or 2 and then she is done. She is better under saddle then I had hoped for (other than the stopping). Well, I was a bit nervous cause it has been several years since I have gotten on a young horse. I worked her pretty good for about 30 minutes, she still needs to get better at the whoa bit but otheriwse did pretty good. No issues with me getting on her and I did it several times. Then I had my husband lead her around just at a walk. She was sorta jumpy but nothing bad at all. My saddle still makes noises and we think with my weight in it was causing her to be jumpy. Well, I thought it might be kinda fun to document the training on my new girl, Keyhole Lexus. So, after having owned her for a total of 6 days she is already starting to fit in and settle down. She is amazingly calm for a 2 yr old and has done nothing really spooky just sorta snorts at stuff. When she actually starts to focus on me while in the round pen, her head comes down and moves out beautifully. I am hoping to get on her tomorrow, want to wait until someone else other than my 2 yr old...
