Jack Continued

Posted 12-25-2006 at 01:37 PM by 3WishesDun
Terrible storms on tap for today.
So I got Jack out early. Worked on the small hill, backing (which he is getting much better at), carrot stretches, belly lifts, and a lot of walking in hand. He looked pretty good today!

Jack Makes A Break For It....

Posted 12-24-2006 at 06:59 PM by 3WishesDun
Going to post for yesterday since I am a loser and forgot!
Had quite the adventure on Saturday.
My FIL is in town and loves to help fix things around the house. He has been working on replacing the old sprinkler pipe in my pasture. My gates all have two latches because Jack can open them like a magician. Well..... FIL only secured the pasture gate with one latch. So yesterday morning I am sitting on the back porch with my Sister in law, talking to my Mom long distance when I heard...

Jack

Gross weather today. It's supposed to rain until the day after Christmas...but I want to stay on track anyway. So...... I worked on walking up and down the small hill, backing, carrot stretches and belly lifts.
I think his stifles are sore. I am sure even though we are going slow and easy he is stretching and using parts that have been out of work for a looooooooong time. One day at a time..... I keep telling myself that. And patience..... I have to practice having patience.

Jack Continued

Posted 12-21-2006 at 04:30 PM by 3WishesDun
Today I was a little short of time as my daughter's school let out at noon for Christmas break. I only had about an 2 hours to take care of the herd and work Jack. He seemed a bit stiff on the front left and right hind.
Nothing overt....but I know him well enough to recognize it. They have been playing like nuts in the field lately, so perhaps he is sore.
Warm-up walk roundpen
Carrot Stretches
Backing - 3 sets of 50 ft.

Going to post pics so I can compare...

Trying To Bring Jack Back

Posted 12-20-2006 at 06:20 PM by 3WishesDun
Jack has been out of work for over a year.
Tried to start riding again in *I think* May but it was not to be.
He is finally where I want him front feet wise....so it's time.
I am going to try and keep a record of how things progress daily.
I am just going to do a quick synopsis of the past week or so...to bring things up to speed.
Last Wednesday- farrier visit
Thursday-
Undersaddle- round pen and in the field. Felt very stiff through the back. I...
