Different Christians may believe differently but the Bible is the Bible... I can give anyone verses to prove my point if they would like them. | |

| Senior Member+ | I can't imagine why. If you are wanting to witness to the lost... the lost must be present...

| Senior Member+ | Its YOUR job as a Christian to bring the word to the lost... not chase them off with a ball bat.... maybe our Bibles DO differ a bit.

| Senior Member | Look I have never had any problems with you and I am not trying to but I am NOT going to chase someone down who doesn't want to hear what I have to say. I didn't chase anyone off, they left and I was glad to see them leave because nothing good would have came of the following conversation. If your bible says to chase people down and MAKE them hear you, then ours are VERY different. I am a Christian and I will reach out to people but when someone very OBVIOUSLY slams the door in my face, I am not going to bother them.

Yes, the lost must be present, but it is not up to us to dillute or hide our beliefs so that once they are in it will be comfortable for them to stay. If God works in their hearts they will be willing to listen to God's Word, even if it may be unpleasant for a time. Note that hearing and listening are two VERY different things. I can hear something and it goes in one ear and out the other, but if I am listening, I am weighing it in my mind as well. To some, The Bible and everything in it is very offensive, and it takes a willing heart and mind to listen and accept. God draws, His Word speaks, and His people witness for Him. He wants people to come to Him and believe on His Son, but unless people are willing to listen they won't even accept that. It is up to God to soften them and get them to the point where they are willing to listen.

If it is 'chasing people down with a baseball bat' to acknowledge that the Bible should be followed, than what is your idea of witnessing? One of the biggest churches in the nation is only concerned with drawing people in. In fact, the minister himself admitted that he doesn't feel it necessary to discuss sin at all. Now, that definitely won't offend people, but will it bring them to feel their need of a Savior?
