Wow, he looks awesome! Good job

May I ask his diet/what all you did to help him gain weight? I'm still working on my thoroughbred...

Wow. Looks great. He's gorgeous if I do say so myself.

Once you get more muscle on him he'll be a stunner.

Thank you both for the kind words!

It was a VERY long road with him as well. We've had him over a year and a half now and he is just now looking like he should have a year ago!

Last year before his current diet we played around with a lot of different combinations to try to get him to gain weight and nothing seemed to work. Then I joined HGS and started reading. I recruited the help of a fellow HGS member and feed guru (thanks, Dawn) and we revamped his diet to 10 lbs. Seminole Wellness Perform Safe, 3lbs Beet Pulp, 2 lbs. BOSS split into two feedings. He did REALLY well on this and began to gain weight fast. Then the problems with the BO started and I noticed his bags of feed were lasting much longer than they should have and his weight gain came to a halt (and I think he even lost some). She was not feeding them regularly, so once more we were on a hunt for a new barn. The BO of our current barn was delivering horse show flyers one day and she stopped and talked to me and offered to make room for our two horses. The only thing was she only fed Purina products and anything else we would have to supply with no discount to our full board prices. l started out paying for the feed in addition to board so he could stay on the Perform Safe, but after I lost my job, I could not afford it. So, since Purina was included in the cost of board, we went with Ultium (have to pay a little extra) and took out the BOSS. He still gets his beet pulp with the Ultium. It has continued what the Perform Safe started and has not made him hot. I have read a lot of horrible things about Purina feeds, but Ultium seems to be a little higher quality. At least it should be for $19 a bag!

I am very happy with the way he is starting to look and he started training again July 1, so hopefully he will be one se.xy beast in the next couple of months when things start coming together!!

Wow! I'm so happy to see these new photos of him!

Ultium is one of the best feeds that Purina makes. I won't personally feed it because it has corn (and corn just isn't something I won't chance feeding because of the multiple health risks present). But all in all, the formulation is not 'bad'.
