| Senior Member+ | I've done something to my knee
I'm not sure if this in in the right section, but I hurt it riding. I'm sorry if it's not. I went trail riding last week for two hours a day for three days in a row. It's always cramped a bit while I've been riding but I've always stretched it and it's gone away. Last week it wouldn't go away and it hurt badly on the ground for five or so minutes until I walked it off. To give you an idea if you run your hand down the outside of your knee there's that hard bit (not the bone). That was where it was hurting. For a while if I rocked backwards it hurt on the outside edge, now it just kind of aches all the time, especially if I've been sitting for a while or if I'm running. I was thinking it might be my position because it's never bothered me aside from riding. It was enough for me to say no to riding a fourth time because it really took the fun out of it. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Sorry for the novel.

if you mean your knee cap... my friend got the same thing[she's a rider] If your knee cap is really far off to the outside, it means that your inner thigh muscles aren't developed as much as your outer ones.. so the kneecap is getting pulled to the outside, and when it's so lopsided, it hurts a lot. Get to a doctor and he'll give you some strengthening exercises and such to do. Hope it feels better |

You may have been putting strain on your Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL), it is on the outside of your knee...

I have the same problem, with my knee aching after long rides. However, mine is from Anna SLAMMING my knee into a boulder at the canter. OMG it hurt so bad, I thought I broke something. So now it hurts anytime I ride. |

I hurt my knee a month ago getting fallen on by a horse into rocks. I went to the ER to get x-rays. Doc said it was fine, just bruised...I had my sis check my knee out and she says it's possible I tore the tendon on the outside-lower of the knee because that's where it hurts.(I can't twist my leg, mounting is SO fun because of it). I'd get it checked out by the doc.
