LMAO. well, because of the small leaves on a good bale of alfalfa, it does make it easier, though the stems make it hard. Many old horses leave the stems of the alfalfa.

LOL what a on old wives tale for sure. People in Lousisiana, Texas and other southern states have been feeding bermuda for generations with no more problems than any other feed. I've fed bermuda I've fed Timothy, I've fed oat hay and many other types of hay.

Where are you at in CA to get Timothy for $17.95? It's over $20 where I am!!!! Orchard is about the same as Timothy, that's what I have mine on and it's cheaper than Timothy. You don't have any Orchard by you??? If you do, what's the price? Maybe I'll drive up there and buy some We're paying almost $17.00 for Orchard right now

No Orchard where I am at. I keep trying to find an alfalfa/grass mix but there are none out here. So I buy alfalfa and grass seperate.

Remember...everything in Ca. is over rated and over priced. I am near the Santa Clarita Valley, Magic Mountain area.

Holy Hay (It should be at that price huh guys???)

I just put my horses on bermuda coastal. I was feeding T&A or Orchard grass when I could get it. It has jumped up to almost 14.00 a bale here. I just simply could not afford it. The bermuda is locally grown, so I know that it is stored pretty good and not for a long time. It runs me 5.00 a bale. Big difference. Many thanks to BW for assuring me that it was ok to feed, and running the nutrients down for me too!! Now I know that they are getting everything they need while on bermuda.

WOW Spyro I am amazed to hear that timothy is 14 bucks in gainesville! I am way further down south and I do pay 9 $ per bale of Timothy.
I have heared that Coastal has no nutritious value due to when it is grown here in Fl there aren't many nutients in the soil.
I really like the Timothy though. I feed Timothy and sometimes if I can't get that T&A but T&A runs bout 14 $ per bale here.

OMG I could never afford hay at that cost. I just paid $1.50/ bale and even in the winter at the most I only pay like $2.50, $3.50 if they deliver it and stack it.
