    Question Is it hereditary?

Is ringbone hereditary(sp?)? Wondering because the horse we have now is a stallion but we believe he has ringbone. Not that we're ever going to breed him.....but just wondering. oh and if this is in the wrong topic go ahead and move it.

Can be. Can not be. Depends on what was the initial trigger.

Injury/farrier mess up is the most common with ring bone that I've seen and read about, however some are born with it and is genetic.

    Same with club foot.
