![]() | Ok, so i have this yearling colt. His sire is a chestnut with 4 high whites, and a blaze, and his dam is TB mare, dark bay, from Seattle Slew lines. My colt has been getting more and more grey in his coat, he is a VERY VERY light roan right now, but, is there any chance that he could grey out? My understandings of genetics is no, there are no greys in his 5 generation pedigree (I think), they are all Chestnuts, bays, and blacks. So, what is the deal? Could he just be roaning a bit? I am going to be very dissapointed if he ends up grey, I love greys, but I love his color better |

If so, it could be rabicano causing it as well. Grey is absolutely out of the question, as one parent has to be grey in order to get a grey foal. (Unless there is a fence hopping grey stallion around.... LOL) |

![]() | My colt has 4 high whites and a blaze also, he is a Selle Francais. I have only ever seen Rubicano in one line of QHs. He does have a lot of grey hairs in his mane, but not so much his tail. His tail is more flaxen colored. And since Rabicano often pairs up with Sabino, it's easy for just the Rabicano to express itself, or be passed on while Sabino isn't passed.
