Yes the Champagne is for 2yos.

I have a great grand-daughter of his too come to think of it. She looks nothing like him. She looks JUST LIKE her grand-father (son of Sec.).

One word for Secretariat. Balance. He's a very balanced stallion all and all. He's not heavy in the chest/light in the hip or vice versa. That's part of what makes him have "perfect" conformation. And I think even at the age the older photos of Secretariat were taken at, his back is much better than either AP Indy or Storm Cat.

I did not know that Ladys Secret was a daughter of Secretariat...I loved watching that horse run, she was such a pretty girl.

Oh and for the record when I seen the first picture I was like yuck look at that neck...then felt pretty silly for not realizing who he was..

Secretariat never should have been kept a breeding stallion, but because of his performance alone he was. But his conformation is quite poor, and it shows in what he produced as a sire.......nothing noteworthy. He was just a freak of nature in the racing world, that's it.

If you say Secretariat was a freak, so was Seabiscut I guess. The little horse many say couldn't but did and did it well.........

Would you mind telling us why you think he was so poorly conformed? He was indeed quite a freak of nature with that huge heart and that GINORMOUS stride. Was he perfect? Not according to some disciplines, but for racing he was pretty darn nice. Combine that with the fact that as a broodmare sire he excels, it's hard to say, after the fact, that he should have been gelded.

They both were - they both had poor conformation yet ran exceptionally well - and then bombed completely as breeding stallions producing poor performing offspring.

Both are very good adverts for "it doesnt matter how well it performs if the conformation isnt right DONT breed it"

Not every horse is suppost to be a good sire or dam and that's why registries track broodmare sires! Doesn't have to be a supermodel to be a good breeding candidate.
