Penny Tweedy thought so......so did all the mare owners who sent mares to him!
For what it's worth I always liked him and thought he was an amazing horse!

That is quite funny - I am **** at confos - but it is amazing what teh right picture can do for a horse.

The first one I didn't like the look of him - the second I would go for in a heartbeat.

E.N. You can't blame us for looking out for people who break the forum rules and could hurt someone else by posting their stallion without permission.

You are the one who kept his identity quiet...maybe next time put his name in the title and get some better critiques.

Well I see her posting it as a 2 part. One... does the horse have the conformation to be a good breeding horse and two.. are you swayed by their name being in lights?

Based on conformation alone I love him. Great shoulder, good pasterns, great hocks, nice croup (now this is all from a stock horse perspective). His neck ties in terribly low, that's the only thing I don't like about his conformation off the 1st photo... but not knowing how old he was in the photo, for a "senior" stallion, he still looked awesome.

I think that the point of the thread. Quality is in the eye of the beholder, and not everyone will agree on what is "stallion quality".

lol they really do look for different things in the stock horse world then. Based off conformation alone I REALLY dislike him. neck ties in too low, croup like a ski slope, hocks too straight, weak loin attachment front legs seriously crooked (in both pictures).

But then I have never cared much for what he produced in the breeding sheds either.

The neck is a BIG deterrant for me. But given all other aspects, I'd look to a mare with a good history of good neck as well as other aspects.

2nd pic does do him more justice by far than the first pic! First pic I'd say no. 2nd pic I'd say maybe, looking at why I would want to breed to him, his record on hand, and if he throws that neck and if it impedes anything.

If he threw that neck, and with his "history" of not throwing winners, I'd cull him from my program if it were me.

but that is me. Yep, I'd cull Secretariat because he couldn't throw anything that could run well.

(but, his legacy did lie in his daughters!!!)
