Is He Grulla?

This is Hollywoods Twister. His sire is a dun, mom either grulla or dun.
Is he grulla?

He has the dorsal stripe, zebra stripes on legs, face cobwebbing, ear tips, black mane and tail...

Good deal! Pretty isn't he? He's 2 1/2 and just started saddle training. He's neck reining off seat and legs like a champ, no buck, no kick, no bite, nothing. Awesome boy.

BTW, the tie down isn't there for anything other than in case she has to get off and lead him, she has something to lead with.

He looks dun too me but hard to tell from those pictures. I thought Grulla had a much darker face, neck shoulders etc. I could be wrong though. Echo's sire was Grulla and he was much darker....or actually had darker points...

i dont get the grullar color not a term we use here could someone please explain it to me

He is primitive dun but i would not call him grulla.

I, too, think he's a dun. I've seen a fair number of grullas and they do have the darker faces and shading and their color tends to be less of the gold-ish/tan that seems to be in your pictures.

Well, I'm sure you know what a dun is. The dun is a dilution. I Probably the most common dun is the dun on bay--red dun. But when dun is on black, it's grulla! Cool, eh?
