Thank you so much. It is slow going but we are getting there. I can't wait to see how different she will look when she is at her correct weight.

Saddletrail, beeks, farfromover
thank you very much for your encouragement. Anna has many food issues we are trying to help her overcome. She throws her food everywhere, hides it then paws it back up. She paces the entire time she eats, swinging her head the entire time. She is so sfraid someone will steal her food.
She eats alone out of sight of the other horses yet still can not get comfortable. She wastes so much food by swinging it all over and oddly burying it. I give her extra to compensate for her sloppy , wild eating style.
She stays alone all nite in her stall with hay but is still paranoid, looking around constantly for other horses. Poor thing. maybe in another month ot two she will begin to relax. Can't imagine what she went thru to develope these types of behaviors.
She seems comfortable with people and is very affectionate and polite. She is a real loner with the other horses. She doesn't graze with them , just follows the others around from a safe distance. Hopefully she will make a friend and not be so afraid.
It worries me that is for certain but I know it just takes time.

My heart breaks for her. I hope she can settle down and relax with time. Tell her Chief says hello and give her a carrot for me!

You might consider feeding her in small increments . We have a rescue at work that practices similar behaviors, so we feed him a half scoop every 10 minutes or so. It's a pain, but we hope to soon slowly increase it until he is receiving his entire meal at once.
