Incentive fund foal?

Okay so I just looked up the produce of dam detail and it showed that my mare is an incentive fund foal.
What does that mean?

Unless you plan on showing AQHA events it probably does not mean anything to you. The horses that are enrolled in the fund get monies for points earned in AQHA events.
For a foal to be nominated they must be offspring of a nominated stallion.

I have a stallion that is enrolled in the incentive fund. His offspring are eligible for it also... this means that the one registering the offspring must pay the additional funds to have it enrolled. The papers will have the incentive fund logo on it. If the offspring is not enrolled by a certain age it is too cost prohibitive to do so.

Nope ... The stallion must be in the incentive fund for that breeding year... for the offspring to be eligible and then they must be paid up when registered. I have to pay up for my stallions offspring to be in the fund each year... I have done that since 2005....

How does a stallion enter into the incentive fund?

Visit the AQHA website for more information. The stallion owner (can actually be anybody as long as they have the stallion owners permission) pays the nomination fee...which varies according to the number of mares he bred the previous year. Then, all AQHA foals produced by the stud are eligible for the Incentive Fund. Those foals that are eligible, still have to be nominated, which is an additional fee...this fee varies by how old the foal is at the time of nomination.
