I'm 19 and school First & Second Level. I started dressage when I was 15 and bought a trained horse. Unfortunately my trained horses were old and have both passed away. I did not have enough time with them *sigh* Since August 2003 I've been working with a former Half-Arab hunter pleasure horse. He's a blast, but it took us a while to really understand each other. Highest I've competed is First level

Umm...I hate to be so uninformed but I really want to know...what are all the dressage levels and their order?? I have never had anything to do with dressage, but it looks pretty cool.

Competing Prelim/Novice with the occassional Elementary.

Training Medium.

Havent ever competing above Medium.

I am an eventer. But I do know that even though we despise it dressage is all the solid foundations you need to be a good jumper. Not to mention these days where the XC isnt mattering as much, you really have to be in the top 10 to place after the dressage.

what the highest level of dressage you are PRACTICING: 2nd
highest level of dressage you have competed in, if you have? Not Shown Yet
Also, for your first dressage horse that you owned did you have someone train him for you, did you train him yourself, or buy him trained? Trained thru 3rd Level

For those who do eventing, would you do dressage if it was not required? Yes

what the highest level of dressage you are PRACTICING: Schooling Fourth

highest level of dressage you have competed in, if you have? Showed second last year, planning on third and maybe a little light fourth this year.

Also, for your first dressage horse that you owned did you have someone train him for you, did you train him yourself, or buy him trained? I was a junior when I bought my first horse. She was untrained, but I had her in full time training with a professional for several years. The horse I own now I bought 4 years ago, and she had never shows above training and a little first level. I got to do all the work with her myself.

For those who do eventing, would you do dressage if it was not required? I haven't evented in years, but Dressage was always the best part. For a true dressage rider, THIS is where you build a BIG lead!
