Talking I'm breeding my mare to rex grannus*pics of my mare up*

My mom has put the idea in my head that we should breed my mare. My mare, China, is out of TB Mare who is jockey club registered and Liocalyon (www.wildturkeyfarm.com) I have gotten into contact with Lio's owner, Barbara Ellison, in hopes to breed to her other stallion, Lavita.

Turns out Barbara has two stallions not up on the website yet. She just imported Lemarque and bought the stallion Rex Grannus a couple of weeks ago. I sent her some pics of China, and we decided that Rex Grannus (http://www.horsemastersfarm.com/stallionbreeding.htm) would be the best fit for China, complementing some of her weaker points.

I am so excited, I am going down to see Rex soon at Barbara's place. He is absolutely lovely and I got into contact with the ISR/oldenburg registry and China is eligible to be an approved mare and the baby out of rex is eligible for branding and full registration as an Oldenburg.

Has anyone heard anything about Rex? What are your thoughts on this? Any tips or advice?

That sounds very exciting! I'm afraid that I am no help in selecting a stud.

The one thing i notice conformation wise about Rex is that he is straight shouldered and throws foals with straight shoulders. And depending on the mare it doesnt seem like he passes his hindquarters on very well.. I also didnt see what his score was for his gaits on the webpage.. either way it looks like he can potentially pass on some serious jumping ability and you have a lovely mare.

There is a video on the website I listed. The link is all the way to the right in the center of the page. It shows his movement and him jumping 6'7".

Yes I noticed that about his shoulder too. My mare definitely got Lio's shoulder. She has a great shoulder angle, I'm hoping she will pass that on.

Yes I do but sadly no conformation pics. The closest pic I have to that is her saddled

China has a longer back (like liocalyon) and a weak topline. Her neck also comes of of her withers/shoulders a TAD BIT low. She has a great haunch and shoulder. Rex seems to have a strong topline, short back, and his neck comes out at the right place.

me too! She has been in heat for two weeks. My vet wants to wait for the next heat cycle since this is her first this year, but she still doesn't want to pass this follicle, so we are waiting for her to ovulate and then when she comes back in heat we will be moving her to the vets for a week. Definitely won't be for a couple more weeks thought ! I am seeing rex and liocalyon next week!!! i am so excited! I hope I made the right choice with Rex instead of Lavita but Barbara thinks Rex is the best match for China so we'll see!

Wow!! The jump on her is amazing! How tall was that second jump? It looked huge! Congrats, she look's like an amazing mare, i'm sure you will get a beautiful foal out of her!
I'm not knowledgable AT all with Rex so I can't really comment on that.
But your mare sure is gorgeous! How old is she?

That jump was 4'6". I know it's huge, her body is above the 5ft arena fence. We free jumped her 5ft but I didn't have my camera that day. She is 7 years old, she'll be 8 in may. Yeah I love her, I have had so much fun with her! Thanks so much! I appreciate all the support!!!
