Your field either has it or doesnt...the only way it can be spread is through seeding. So, I think in your case, it would be beneficial to go ahead and test your pasture and know for sure whether or not it is safe, since there ARE endophyte free versions of fescue. Sorry this is just not true... It could be that she did not eat enough bites with the endophite in it or there was no endophite there but that does not mean it will not be there this year... I know many who never have an issue and the one year they loose every foal. Personally I am not willing to take the risk every again. Once was enough for me. I will always and forever dry lot my mares in the last few months.
