Jewel, an AQHA sorrel mare, and her 1-month-old filly, April, are missing from a broker. Supposed to purchased by May 1. Broker has sent a $5,000 board bill and also denied knowing anything about these horses.

A missing horse could be a long distance in a short time period. Please notify your associations, list groups, council members, friends and ask them to do the same.

V - I *know* Julie. She's in the same town my Mom and Vet is. This is actually more "strange" than the alert tells. Unfortunately, there is more going on than can be told. I have no clue where this mare and foal is right now, but, unfortunately, the living conditions were not much different for her before.

I hope things work out for everyone. It's just a sad situation all the way around.

How can the lady send a boarding bill then claim to not know anything about the horses?

FOH - Julie is a decent person. The "lady" she got mixed up with on "other deals" before this is someone I would have run far and fast away from at the first meeting. It's just sad all the way around.

I feel for Julie. But what was the lady's explaination of the bill for horses she supposedly doesn't know anything about?

Seems like proof positive that the lady had the horses in her possession.

FOH - the "rumors" going around (and keep in mind this is all second hand on any information I am getting on this) are that she's claiming to the "law" that Julie came back and picked up her horses on the sly and that is why she sent her a bill, but doesn't "know" anything about the horses now.

It's all VERY ugly and a good lesson to others of the value of a written and noterized (spl?) contract every step of the way.

Exactally. Julie should have known better than to make "verbal agreements" with the type of person the other "lady" is. She is obviously a puppy miller and had a rep. already in the "pet" community that would be easy to check out. Life lessons are always hard, it's just so sad that the animals get caught up in the middle of them.
