I want to show big so badly

Ok i dont wanna sounds ungrateful to my parents because they really do try to help us with our riding, but thier are 10 of us and only my dad works and so the money supply isnt tight but isnt endless...anyways they lease a horse that i love dearly and we all get to ride as much as we want and stuff but i cant even think about asking to do any rated shows....they take us to a local circuit but i know they cant afford the big shows and sometimes i get so jealous about the little rich girls who are so spoiled and do tons of shows and barely even thank thier parents(im not talkin about anybody on here, i just have a friend who is like this) idk why it makes me so mad it just does...i know i can ride well and i win alot around here and i would have a chance in big shows but it will be a long time before i ever get there...idk i just get so frustrated sometimes about it
Anyways heres the sites of the places we show in case your interested

www.elmington.com

It sure would be nice to be rich! Don't worry about it too much, you will make it. They won't know what hit them later when you beat them in the show ring. I definately know what you mean by those 'snooty' show girls who think they know everything and nothing is ever good enough. Grrr, so annoying!

I was kinda thinking along the same lines last summer...how I would like to take Iesha to a rated show to see how we would place, but budget got in the way of that dream...

And I was talking to my instructor's husband, and he said that when I win at a non-rated show that is considered a "warm-up" show to the rated riders, then it's like I'm beating them in a rated show, only cheaper! I just thought that was a really nice way of putting it, and it certainly cheered me up!

I'm sure all of us that do backyard shows will someday show the snotty rich girls out there how we ride...we'll not only win, we'll have a blast doing it!

You'll show the big shows soon enough! lol. If it makes you feel any better, my family is pretty well off and I wasn't allowed to show the big rated shows until I was 13. I did the little local shows on my horses all that time. Even then I was still limited to the shows I could do. And there are HUGE A shows in Colorado and such. While my friends and barn mates were showing Indio and Tuscon, I was doing schooling shows. Just try your best to be the best rider you can be and keep working hard at the little shows. When the time comes to go to big shows, you will rock! You can always learn though, so keep doing what you do and it will happen! Good luck!!!!!

heh dont we all wish we could be those little rich girls? I wish my dad would buy me a pony and i wish that he would take me to a show every weekend but reality is that my life is not like that and I wouldnt have it any other way.

It takes determination to get far and if everything is handed to you just like that then you wont have a goal, you wont be working towards anything. Alot of people i know that have been givin horses only show the 2foot to the 2foot6, otherwise they were afraid, they didnt have the determination to be great. The tougher the battle the sweeter the victory. If we want to get to where the snobby girls are we put 110% more effort than they did and thats what makes us great because we are always living our dreams and always trying our best.

Another thing, why do people always put rich horse girls to be snobby? Not everyone with money acts like a brat. Not to stir up trouble or anything. It's just a very false stereotype. Like dumb blondes...it's not always true. A bunch of my neighbors are total hunter/jumper people and go the massive shows in California, Florida, Arizona, ect. and they are really nice people. They have nice horses and alot of money...but never in my life could I call any of the kids bratty. Only a handful of those type of girls turn out bratty. Bad riders that still win, yes...but being snobby and bratty is a whole different thing. Most of them AREN'T like that. But then a few are. But not ALL rich girls/boys are like that. Once again, I don't want to make any trouble. I just want to point out some of the stuff us riders say and think when really it's not true. EVERYBODY does it, so i'm not saying any of you are like that. Just don't pin me to this. Thanks.

I know what you mean...I guess I used the wrong word. Um, not snobby, but easily secure in their riding financially, at least until they reach adult hood, and seemingly unaware of it. I know that money does not make a person snobby, but simply that they may (I say may because I don't personally know anyone like this) take horses/riding in the big shows for granted.

Does that make any sense? Hm, I've confused myself! lol

Yes. It does make sense. It's just people are so quick to jump on people who have fancy horses and have money. Most children who DO have money don't get into the financial status of their family and how much they spend supporting their sport because...they don't have to. I never asked how much my horses cost or that kind of thing. I didn't really want to know. It's just a sterotype...alot of people do it. The same thing with blonds, skaters, preps, ect. The "rich girl riders" fall into that sort of thing. It's not a big deal, but it just isn't always true. =)
