I want my horse's tail to grow out!

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had any tips on helping my horse's tail grow out. I recently bought a beautiful buckskin quarter horse who is almost 17 hands tall and absolutly gorgeous, but his tail looks horrible. The people who owned him before had kept him pastured with cows and the cows ate most of the hair of his tail bone off! Also, the previous owners kept his tail cut to only about three or four inches below the tail bone. I would appreciate any tips that anyone could give me!

Thx,

I just let my arabs tail grow....put leave-in-contidioner in it such as mane and tail and made sure there were now knots or little twigs and what not in it....it is growing out pretty fast..I also have heard that MTG works but I have never tried it.

If the tack shop carries Shapley's products then you can get it at a tack shop... you can always ask the owner to see if they have a dealer that they can buy from to get it in

I would be careful using the MTG though - some of us have horses who have been sensitive to it (like they end up losing their hair )

Just don't brush it... Spray it down with a conditioner/detangler and pick through it with your FINGERS making sure that you aren't breaking the hairs. When it gets a little longer, start to put it up into a sock.
