| Banned | ok...well first of all...i havnt read all of the replies u have gotten...but i have heard of a lil trick that ppl use around the barn i used to go to...i have nvr used it or anything but ppl sya it works. But the thing is...it might not work with your horses tail since it is so short. Ok..well like you know like hoof conditioner?Well the ppl at my old barn like brush it onto thier horses tail then wrap it and then just like leave it. It is supposed to make it fuller and longer. But i am not quiet sure if it rly works. I left after like a month or two and the tails were still wrapped...But so supposedly like it works 'cuz manes tails and hoofs are all made out of the same thing...but i unno. But yah..thats rly all i know besides some of that like stuff made for growing tails. But so i hope all goes well! |

For a leave-in I like to use Infusium 23 Leave-in (I also use the Infusium 23 shampoo and the 3 minute power-pac conditioner - really like their products!) I wouldn't use just a regular conditioner because, again, it can cause build-up and tail rubbing. Just make sure that when you do the tail that you don't brush it - just pick it with your fingers making sure that you don't break hairs after you've used some of the leave-in conditioner... hope that helps!

| Senior Member | I have a gray Appendix whose tail is both filthy and skimpy. A friend who has had horses and worked with them for forty years suggested using a mild bleach water to clean the tail, so I tried it for the first time tonight. I only used about 1/4 cup bleach to half a five gallon bucket of warm water. Then I sprayed both his and my quarterhorse's tails down with MTG. It would be nice if I can get the Appendix's tail to grow. Hope the MTG works, and that he isn't sensitive to it like it was mentioned. I'd die if his hair fell out since it is so skimpy to begin with!

| Senior Moderator | I would suggest using the Mega-Tek rebuilder, it doesn't have the drawbacks that the MTG does. I have used it on our horses with fantastic results.. and if it is long enough then put it in a tail bag. They really do work great at protecting the tail from damage. Every time I seem to take my horses out of the tail bag I have to cut it as it is hitting the floor. Does it really take 7 years for a horse to grow its tail from top to bottom ![]()
