Talking I ruined my horse, by doing western!!!!

Well, it was Dizzies first ever show today!!!!! But it was western..... Hehe, but considering we'd never done western before we did all right! My position was totally appalling, I'm guilty of that! But Dizzy was absolutely perfect!!! He won me 3 firsts, 4 seconds and 1 third!!!! I'm so VERY proud of him, especially since it was our first time ever doing western!!! He got all purdied up and he was so good!!!! We got some piccies! We did halter classes, hunter under saddle, huntseat equitation and bridle path hack!

Showmanship at halter, facing the judge.

More halter class
Even more halter class, purdie lil' Diz!

Our ribbons from halter class

Trotting

Trotting, like Dizzies mane? I did it myself!

Left lead, he got them every time!!!!

Our ribbons from the day!!!!!

Apart from my horrible position, we did fine! I am VERY proud of my little Dizzy!!

awww dizzy is sooo cute! Did you do any western under saddle classes?? we want pics!

Just curious though, is the way you did his mane an australian thing? I have only ever seen that on some arabians at local shows here in Texas. The fashion here is to pull/cut them pretty short and band rthem for western classes, what is in style there?

I believe you have a lot of explaining to do missy! You can't have done that bad. All I could see when I logged in was a very big grin, a grey horse and lots of ribbons. Well done!

I am very very proud of both of them. Chick did the preparation of Dizzy on her own. Dizzy behaved impeccably all day. No bucks and got the correct canter lead at all times. He behaved like a horse who had been in show rings forever.

There is only one ribbon there that was a what we call freebie. That was in halter class because they were the only unregistered gelding in there.

She did beat a girl for first in one of the showmanship at halter classes. For that we are eternally grateful to a lovely young man who spent a few minutes before the class showing chick how to do it. We had no clue previously and had not even seen a class of it.

She was placing in front of others for second in the hunter classes but not winning as Dizzy just has way too much elevation for western horse and carries his head too high.

When it came to the bridle path hack she beat 4 others to win. That class they were looking more for a horse of Dizzies abilities than in the more western classes.

It was a small show and the object of it had been to get Dizzy out as he hasn't been anywhere since last August due to the EI.

Did I say how proud I was of both of them? I also forgot to mention that her showmanship outfit cost me all of $6. $3 each for the pants and jacket. Who said you had to spend lots to look allright in the ring?
