That's horrible! Is it a 'one store' kind of store? Or is there more than one store within a 'chain'?

I'd be asking to speak to the owner about that.

I once went to buy feed at a local coop. Now, keep in mind that this was a textured sweet feed (yes several years ago before I knew better) which would have an average shelf life of 4-6 weeks. I went inside and purchased, came around to pick up. The guy loading refused to load it for me. Said he'd worked there for a few years, and that he had unloaded that pallet of grain the week he started work!

Nope, not a chain, just a "mom n' pop" type deal. But they have been here in this town for a very long time.(the store looks its age too) I've only stepped in there once when I was looking for some hay.... $9.75 a bale for some crummy coastal, I walked out!

Its incredibly frustrating when you feel like you are the only one who really cares about whats going into your horses gut, I am finding most of these stores are not interesed in helping or answering questions! If I owned a feed store, my employees would be required to at least have a clue how to answer questions and do some research! The typical conversation went something like this
"Hi, do you carry alfalfa pellets?"
Yes, we do
"can you tell me what the ingredients are, I am looking for pure alfalfa without fillers, a little molasses is fine"
uhhhh, well, I think its alfalfa, it says alfalfa on the bag
"can you look at the ingredients for me?"
I am put on hold for a few minutes.....
well, its got this stuff called expoxgyne in it, plus grain by-products, animal fat, cane molasses, dehydrated alfalfa, yes, these are alfalfa pellets...
I ask..
"is that the order of the ingredients?"
uhhh, yes, they are pure alfalfa

Me,
"um, no they aren't.... bye-bye, thanks for your help! lol!

Ah well, if anything, at least maybe I am giving them a small bit of an education!!

Alright - I am 1/2 scoop away from being "grain free". I took away barley completely, corn - gone.... and now just down to 1/2 scoop of oats. Will be phasing out of that scoop by the end of this week. Doing great, eating all his BP and alfalfa pellets. He looks fantastic and is going great! Ever since I added MSM into his diet I really can tell hes not so stiff anymore when I first get on him. HUGE difference in the corners too.

Yes, I sure did! and YES, he sure did! lol!

I also have had him on this supplement for two months now, his feet have always been pretty good, the few things I really noticed a difference in was how quickly his mane grew (he had a huge bald spot from reaching thru the barbwire to get better grass) and how thick its gotten and his coat, extra shiney and super soft. I was thinking of just switching to plain ole flaxseed, but after realizng today how thick his mane has come in, I might just stick with this product. Its relatively inexpensive compared to pure flaxseed.
