Post I need horse tips!

I was just wondering if someone could be my key pal and give me some horse tips! I am really in need because in a couple of years I am thinking of helping out at a horse camp and I want to make sure the horses are getting the best treatment possible. Thank You! My e-mail is mpony2003@yahoo.ca if you would like to e-mail me some tips.... anything horse related!

A horse can lend its rider the strength he or she lacks- but the rider who is wise remembers it is no more than a loan.

You could also take lessons (if you don't already) and maybe help out at a local barn (even if you just volunteer). That will give you invaluable experience. Have fun!

I heard this once and it is oooooooohhhhhhhhh so true. "A horse is dangerous at both ends and uncomfortible in the middle"

Here are some tipe for the beginner;

Start by cleaning some stalls it will do you some good and if you have to clean stalls with horses in them NEVER TURN YOUR BACK TO THEM & MOVE SLOWLY especially if you do not know them.

ASK FOR HELP! People never do but then they usually get to pay for that mistake dont't they (I know I did) and I was one of the luck ones (only had to learn that lesson once).

NEVER let a horse go at the stall door ESPECIALLY A FOAL your just askin for it. Either an escape or the boots . Walk the horse in turn arround and block the door with your body and then remove the halter. NOTE all horses are a little easier in the stall if dinner is waiting for them.

Although you will get conflicting comments here remember your saftey if your first concern. Only lead one horse at a time NEVER DOUBLE UP! Oh I know the girl/guy who trained me does it all the time rite? Not good it is not worth the risk remember your no good to anyone if you are dead.

Hope this helps

I worked as a Summer Camp Counselor for a couple of years... it's a lot of hard work and sometimes you just want to make a vow NEVER to have kids, but the experience is priceless. I started out cleaning stalls and pulling hayroll strings in exchange for lessons initially...they began to trust me with more and more things, and I learned a lot before I actually was able to instruct someone else. I'd suggest you volunteer at a stable nearby to get the hang of it. Good luck!
