Shell,

I do like Kordelas head also. It's very exotic! I should try to get some better shots' of Touch's head. Below is a picture of Gabby her head sometimes is so pretty like in this picture and then some days she just looks weird. I was told by her former owner though that due to the heavy Russian breeding her face wouldn't mature until she was 10 or 11. Anyone else ever heard this?

hmm I think I have a picture of Touch somewhere similar to that picture I should find it and post it and see what ya'll think of his head! It's so fun to talk about Arabians and their looks!

My friend has a Russian bred arab who used to do EP and CP and his whole body is not the typical "refined" arab. He does have a dished face but not like the halter arab you see.

Yep I know that it is. A man in Halter was reported to have gotten his vet to strip the muscle below the Jibbah to make a more Dished profile and for the Jibbah to protrude more.
I have heard both cases on halter, people who compete in halter and dont like what it has turned into and the other side. It's been said that these horses that are bred strictly for conformation cant perform. I think horses should be judged on thier work ability. A lady whose parents own a big time Arabian Farm. Told me she was shocked that I barrel raced my arab. She didnt know how his legs could stand it without breaking. She says her parents winning arabian halter horses had narrow backs and peg legs. Its like all these horses are good for is being on a petalstool.

Westernarabians...it sounds to me like you need to find some new Arabian people to associate with sice it is obvious that they know very little...if anything about the breed...
First off, I have serious doubts as to the validity of the story of the horse having facial muscles removed to give it more of a dish. The dish has to do with bone structure than muscle groups. Also, I do not know of any muscle in that location/area of the head that could be removed anyway.
As for the lady who is worried about the Arabians having small, delicate legs....someone should tell her that their bones are actually supposedly denser than those of other horses. Those delicate littel horses had no problems carrying the Arab Sheiks and tribal warriors across the desert sands at high speeds.
I do not find that today's halter horse's are narrow backed and peg legged either. What I do find is that many misconceptions like that about the breed's conformation is based on people looking at halter classes of horses that are 3 years and under...horses in those classes are still growing and developing so naturally look even more refinded than the mature Arabian.
Here are 2 National Champion stallions (Magnum Psyche and *Padron) and while they are 'very typey' I do not at all consider them narrow and delicate....

As I have said before MANY halter Champions have gone on to successful performance careers...so it sounds me like this woman has very little REAL knowledge of, and about, the breed!
Ask her is she has ever heard of Gai Parada+++.....

Gai Parada+++ was the only Arabian stallion to win a National Championship in Performance BEFORE he won National Champion Stallion in halter!

Sandra,

Do you think she is talking of the situation where a certain horse had muscles taken out of his throatlatch? That's why some certain person is on suspension from AHA ( I think they are off now) I don't know but just a thought....

Beats me....they could be mistaken and have gotten their story mixed up. It is possible since they do not seem to know the breed all that well......
At least from what has been said here, it seems that way to me.
The horse that had the cribbing surgery is pictured above...Magnum Psyche and THAT surgery was found to be legal. His get seem to have lovely throatlatches themselves, so the fans of this stallion say that this is proof that there was little, if any, enhancement done to that area of Magnum and the surgery was a necessary precaution taken for his cribbing problem.
David Boggs was found guilty of other illegal surgeries and has served his suspension and is now back in the show ring.
That ugly part of the breed's past is now where it should be..... in the past...

Sandra,
That's interesting info I have alway heard Padron Psyche was the horse. And that's true it's a good thing it's in the past.... I just didn't want to mention any names...
