I like this filly... but how did she come out this colour? *New pictures*

I was looking through some 2008 foals up for sale this morning, and found this filly. I like her, but I'm wondering 1) if she's really a dun and 2) if she is, how did she end up a dun, with a grey sire and a palomino dam. Clearly either the dam is a dunalino, which I doubt, or the sire was a dun before... but I can't tell if he could be from allbreed since half the colours aren't listed.

She doesn't look like a dun to me, though I'm not expert. She looks more like a chestnut or a bay foal with countershading to me.

She looks like she's going to gray to me just based on her hair color compared to all the duns I've seen before.

The picture makes it impossible to tell with any certainty if she's a dun or not. But, assuming she is, you are right in that either the mom has to be a dunalino, or dad is dun behind the gray.

Yeah, she could be... sire is grey, so I imagine she probably is going to grey out.

I'm almost positive it has to be the sire that was a dun before greying, the dam doesn't look dunalino at all.

I can't find anything on her sire's dam just looking quickly, but his sire was a grey. And like you, don't see the dam being a "lino" at all.

Yeah, on allbreed the sire's dam has no colour info, but there's a whole like of buckskins before her that could have been duns registered as buckskins. Ah well, who knows.

I could ask for more pictures of her, but I don't want to ask for them if I'm not going to buy her. She sure is pretty whatever colour she is. She does seem to have a 'mask' though.
